STEADY TICKING NOISE AFTER SHUTTING CAR OFF
MY 1995 CIVIC DX MAKES A STEADY TICKING NOISE UNDER THE HOOD WHEN I TURN THE CAR OFF AFTER DRIVING FOR A WHILE. ANY IDEAS WHAT THIS IS AND IF IT'S SOMETHING THAT SOUNDS SERIOUS? i HAVE A FRIEND WHO SAYS MOST HONDAS DO THIS AND DON'T BE WORRIED.
THANKS

you don't need to yell.
your exhaust --- and other parts --- get really hot and expand while the car is running. They contract as they cool down; you'll hear kind of a "pinging" sound.

My civic is doin it too, it just started a couple weeks ago too. It sounds like its coming from the exhaust so i figured it was something with the metal as well. And lay off the caps.

we have motorcycles and they are really loud while they are going and when you turn em off they do the same thing, but they are fairly loud since there is no compartment like an engine compartment to muffle the noise.
