Default Stock motor performance difference?

Ok so I dont own a civic but my brother does and so does one of my friends. I noticed that they have the same motors. My brothers is a 95 CX hatch and my friends is a 92 DX hatch. Why is it that the CX motor only makes around 70 hp from the factory and the DX makes 102 or something like that? And how could I bring the power of the CX up to the stock level a DX motor makes? Or would it be best to get a different motor but if i wanted to do that i would probably get a b18 instead.

the reason the DX/LX motor has more power than the CX is because the CX is only a 8valve motor, the DX motor has 16Valves. more air input and exaust output = more free flowing input and output

thiers all the engine block specs for stock stuff... preaty good info page... but its best to go off the markings on the block to ensure which motor it was in it.... cause motors get swaped out all the time
onl true way to know what you realy got under the hood...

first off. i dont know which would be better the b18b or b18c? like i said its not mycar but i am looking for a 92-95 hb for cheap if i can find one like under a grand. but wouldnt it be easy to just swap the head from the 16 valve to the 8 valvemotor insteador would it need the same pistons that a 16v motor has? would the intake manifold and exhaust match up with the 16v head? if it were my car it would definitely be a different motor especially because the one in it has around 240,000 miles on it but runs decent i guess other than the slow part. at least its a 5 speed. i dont like automatics at all its just not as fun to drive a car with an automatic. not as much control

well if your looking for a simple D swap then ya youd want to just drop in the whole motor... the pistons are kinda notched for the 4valves... you can see them from my D16Z6 motor

the exaust should bolt right up as long as its another D motor.... i like my z6 in my 94civic. feels just as good as my 99 y8 motor but main difference that kills my 99 performance feel is the automatic trany.LOL i love a manual cause thiers just so much more personal control that you have!
