Default Swapping laws

I'm sure this is a re-post but I couldn't find it when I searched... Does anyone know the laws in California for swapping Honda engines? I know keeping the OBD current to the year of the car is one. But are there restrictions on specific motors?

The motor has to be newer than the car...i.e. a b18c1 from a 1999 integra gsr can go in a 1999 or below civic but not a 2000 civic

Oh...there is a long list of them...but they are all sketchy..

i know for a fact the engine has to be from the same year or newer than the car you are trying to put it in and the ECU has to match up and all the after market parts need to be CARB stamped (header, intake manifold)...

ummm

here is some information..

Nice, looks like there are no restrictions on particular motors. How hard is it to get a JDM motor to pass smog is the question I guess.
Thanks for the links

thats the hard part...because people say..if it isn't available in the us, then it wont pass smog...

so like a JDM b16 should be able to pass because it was available in the US in stuff like the Del Sol and what not...but in my case i got a D16a9..zc engine..only in europe and japan...where i have no idea what im gunna do when it comes up to smog in 2 years..

I guess it depends on the smog technician. But that is a problem. I wonder what causes the engine to output different emissions? Assuming the internals are in good shape... I hear a lot that JDM engines are poorly maintained due to the fact that the Japanese know they have to swap them out at 50k or whatever. So they don't bother with caring for them... That might be why they don't pass smog, the rings are shot. I don't think the put a restriction on non-US engines, as long as its made by Honda. Here's a link to the California aftermarket laws. Its like reading a legal manual or an obituary. But it did answer some of the questions I had about turbo chargers.
