After buying the 05 Civic sedan for my wife, that I now mostly drive, I was thinking about getting a coupe for myself. I was so impressed by the sedan. The only problem is that if I did go ahead and buy a coupe, I would have had to get rid of my Mercedes coupe that I like so much. The thought of that alone was almost unthinkable. The Benz is a beautiful car and even though it is over 20 years old it has been very well maintained and has lots of life left, I wouldn't doubt it would easily go for another 20 years. Sure the Honda handles and drives better and gets better MPG's but the the Benz still looks classy and stands out of the crowd of the generic looking cars made these days. I figure I could sell the Benz and get half what a 04-05 would cost but I would never save the difference that it would end up costing me. The other thing is I can litterally do all my own work on the Benz which is not what I can say about the Honda but then maybe I wouldn't have to do anything on the Honda.
It's a hard thing to decide at the moment.

 

I think if you can work on a Benz, you can maintain a Honda. No worries.

And I think you'd enjoy a used coupe more. Park it anywhere, drive the snot out of it, get 35 mpg, and use the money you save to buy a vintage...whatever you want.

 

well by the sound of your post your not ready to get rid of the benz, sounds like you enjoy it to much to get rid of.

 

Buy a lightly used S2000 or 2006 si. You will never forget the Benz but you will be having too much fun and enjoyment in either of these cars for it to bother you! My daughter has a 2006 si with the Honda ground effects and a custom Viper red paint job and believe me- you can't get a much sharper looking car for under $30,000.00! It really turns heads and has the look of a exotic sports car with the ground effects! Ken PS it runs like a sports car with the cost of a compact family car.

 

I'm back to driving my Benz the last few days. My wife needed "her" car. Actually the Benz is also a lot of fun to drive. It has a manual tranny that adds to the fun. It also have lots more legroom. I think a basketball player could have enough legroom in the Benz. That's the one thing it looks like Honda has neglected in their cars.
As far as working on the Benz, its really basic. There's really no computer. The only electronics it has is in the fuel and ignition system.
It's a keeper.
