Default timing belt issue

I know I am probabily in the wrong section so any help directing me would be great. I have a 98 civic DX all stock working on the up grades but right now I need the replace the timing belt and this **** is kicking my butt. I got it set at TDC but for the life of me I cant get the crankshaft pulley off so I can get to the lower cover off. I pulled the starter and I cant see where to block it so it wont turn and I dont want to spend the money on the special tool PLEASE HELP!! gotta get back to work and the bike it just not the best way seeing that it is TOO COLD in the morning.
Thanks in advance
Sean

This issue has come up a few times on here, do a search and you should find some good threads on this topic. I've never done this... however I hear if you use a really long breaker bar it should work, and make sure that your taking it off the right way.

They way I stop the crank pulley from moving is to put a flat screwdriver in the flywheel through the starter hole. Then get a big long pipe for my breaker bar to have more torque in taking that sucker out.
