You can test the TPS to make sure that is the reason for your issue. Heres what you do.
Pick up a multi meter like this ($15 at Autozone, Lowes, etc..)
1 - Turn your key to the ON position (but do NOT start the car)
2 - Then, using the red probe provided with the multi meter, tap into the middle wire going into the tps
3 - Once tapped, put the other probe onto a ground source (I usually just use a bolt on the Throttle Body)
4 - You should see a reading of 0.45-0.50 with the throttle plate closed
Now, do steps2 & 3again, only this time with the throttle plate completely open (this is a lot easier with two people, but it is possible by yourself, just get creative, haha)
The reading with the throttle plate open should be 4.5-5.0
If this checks out, your problem is elsewhere. If you get other readings, post em up and I will try and help you further
