If straight up trade is a bad idea, how much should I ask over the civic?

i would ask for a couple hundred to a thousand. removing the intake can cause the CEL to go on but that might not be the case. i would just have the light check just to be on the safe side, you do not want to spend more to fix it. but like other poeple said, since you want a manual then you should just wait. consider selling your eclipse then buy the civic you want.

I think manual would be fun, but a bit impractical considering 95% of driving is city. Are the auto trans just as reliable as the standard? Hmmm I was going to take out my radio but the mits radio requires a code, which the dealer will charge me for. If you look at dayton.craigslist.com you can see how hard it is to find a decent honda. It comes with keyless entry, can an alarm be added on top of it? I eventually need to get a better gas efficient car, seeing 20mpg is not great at all imo, heck I think it might be getting 18. 30 just sounds quite amazing right now, and the fact that its a honda, well thats just better
Like I said I will get that CEL checked out, definately not going to pay for any repairs, I want the car to be just as good as mine, if not better. Do short ram intakes, affect like reliability? What does it actually do, make it sound louder?

A short ram does not affect reliability that I have ever heard of, it increases the amount of air the engine can take in and probably gives you an extra 2-5 horsepower, and yes it makes it louder (only really noticeable when you depress the gas pedal more than halfway tho, then it roars). Yes a car alarm can be added on top of the keyless entry and both could even be controlled from the same key-fob unit.

I know where you're coming from with the whole mpg thing, one of the main reasons I got a civic myself. Even for city driving a manual civic is not "impractical" because their clutches are pretty light (unless you're running a turbo with a stage 3 clutch or something lol) and you dont get tired of shifting, and on top of that you get better fuel economy with a manual

You could try looking at the craiglists in towns less than 2hrs away from yours. It would be worth a 2hr drive if you could find a good condition manual honda for a good price

Update!
I backed off, and found a civic 98 4dr manual! thats awesome, the guy is interested but I dont think a straight up trade is fair for me.
I also found a 99 civic SI, which is even better but the guy wants cash on top....Which honestly I think my car is worth just about the same.

The SI has crap for gas millage. Use to own one. But it does have great power.
BTW-Never buy one if you cant afford the gas. I put 87 in it once.. man.. i thought I killed it.. =P

Should I be worried about that the car has been driven hard for this many miles?
I would think the SI needed to be driven hard to get something out of it. How bad was the gas mileage?
