Any ma & pa auto shop will pay $$ for a 30LB cylinder of R12. They go for $995 at parts stores (vs $80 for 30LB of 134a), so you can't ask that much, but I think you could get $600 or so per cylinder. R12 isn't banned in Mexico, so you can get a 30LB cylinder there for less then $100 (which is why I brought up the subject in the first place).

NO a 30LB cylinder is enough freon to recharge the A/C on about 10-12 cars (since each car takes about 2-3.5lbs to charge). You would just sell the cylinder to someone who does automotive A/C work. They will be happy because they paid LESS then market, and YOU will be happy because you made a profit of a few hundred $$.

This is a picture of a 'dual mode' (R12 & R134a) automotive A/C evacuator machine see the 30lb cylinder? There is another one on the other side but you cannot see it.

Those guys in uniforms on our side of the border will not take kindly to someone with a trunk full of R-12. Trying to import even one 12 ounce can is a $30,000 fine.

If the dogs can't pick up on the scent, what's the worry? Just play it cool man, and maybe go across the border at Otay or Tecate (<-----super nice drive through east county).

ok heres my idea, remove your spare tire and put the cylender in there

get wood to support the cylender so it dont roll

build a custom sub box with an ark in the middle so the cylender can fit in snug

have the whole cylender covered by a piece that extends out, u can put an an amp on there

carpet it all up, and make it look like its never been touched... if the dogs cant smell it then you should be good.

yeah but you got to think here

1. if you hide it and they find it, there gunna get you and you cant rly get out of it cause you knew it was wrong and thats why you hid it

2. if you dont hide it and they find it, they will probably take it and still slap you with a fine but you can probably get otu of it because " if you knew it was illegal, why would you leave it in open view.

you could probably just take a car load and leave it on the back seat floor, just put a towel over it and with their feet on top of it, they probably wont notice it.
