Type r swap
hey whats going on i recently came across a 97 type r swap, which is obd2 and right now i have a 90 si that i want to throw it in, i have already swapped the motor once in this car, so i have a obdo to obd1 harness in there. so my first question is can the motor be wired down to obd1, or do i just need to suck it up and by the obdo to obd2 harness. also is there any tips about swapping this motor in, that i should know that might be different from any other motor. any comments big or little would be appreciated thanks people.

You can run OBD1 no problem, you are just going to need an OBD1 B-Series manual computer, and an obd2a-obd1 jumper harness (since the new engine is from a 96-98.) If it was from a 99-00 you would need an obd2b-obd1 jumper harness.

Actually if I'm not mistaken, you gain a few hp by running obd1 compared to obd2, due to less restrictions. Plus you don't get a check engine light if you remove your catalytic converter.
And this is the best price I've been able to find on the harness (including shipping,) and it's where I got mine from. There are cheaper ones on Ebay but they trick you by adding like 20 bucks for shipping. For the record, I tend to stay away from generic ebay parts, but the jumper harnesses are just fine, had mine for over 2 years now.

No problem man. You would get a lot more bang for the buck by building a turbo motor and boosting the hell out of it. But I'm partial to DOHC Vtec, there's nothing quite like it. And if you spend the initial money on the DOHC and then, after you save up more money, build and turbo that, you would be making SO much more power. That's what I would do.
