Default Upgrades

I'm wanting to do some upgrades on my 1997 Civic LX. I want a CAI, new exhaust, and headers. I've heard that better camshafts are a good way to increase power, is this true? And if so, what's a good company that makes the cams for my car? I'm also interested in doing some racing here and there and any input on how to increase performance further is appreciated. Thanks for the help.

Mugan make good ones also ur question about increasing performance is too general. u have an D series motor and u already listed the basic thing u can buy to get the best out of tht D series motor and those are Intake,Header and Exhuast. other than tht u can do a mini me swap to vtec or if ur car is already vtec than the best thing to do is buy a B series enginethan unless ur goin to turbo ur D series engine. but information about car peroformance can be found in Engine & Internal, Header, Intake, & Exhaust, and Nitrous, Super Chargers, & Turbos

Ok, thanks a lot for your help. Does anyone have a 97 LX with a few upgrades that could let me know how theirs performs? And also, what kind of place would do a mini me swap for me?

what kind of engine do u have in ur LX is it the D16Y7 engine or is it a different engine? is ur car manual or automatic? usually after u install intake, headers, and exhuast ur car will be much better becasue u will more more HP and ur car will be breathing and exhualing much better. also if u have an manual civic if u install a short shifter with bushings ur car will shift much smoothing.

I have the D16Y7 and its automatic. How much would the conversion from auto to manual be? And would an all out engine swap be better? Like a B18C?

a performance shop would probably do it for you but the labor isnt gonna be cheap... your looking at around $750 to buy the head and for labor... and i heard you have to get it tuned on a dyno after that which depending on who you know or what they charge can cost you up to $400
