Want to buy 94 Civic LX Sedan
Hey everyone, first time poster.
I thought I would ask the experts before I decide on buying a high mileage Civic Lx.
I've negotiated with 2 dealers on price - Both are the same car:
1994 Honda Civic LX Sedan, 1.5 I4
Option 1 - 141,000 Miles, Out the door price: $4,000
Option 2 - 223,000 Miles, Out the door price: $3,500
These prices seem steep, but seems comparable to craigslist, etc. I figure about $500 for another engine that I can put in myself when needed and I can do all the maintenace/repairs.
I suppose what I'm asking is which is the better route, only knowing this information (assuming everything is currently mechanically sound and cosmetics aren't an issue).
Thanks for any guidance!
Ian

Damn...that is pretty steep..even buying from a dealership. I brought a 93 LX Civic(sedan) with 182,000 miles for $2350 in relativity good condition about a year ago from a dealer.
if you're gonna buy either of those Civics for those prices you better make sure 90% of that car is in good condition with no leaks, faults, dents, cracks, breaks, etc.
AND...if you do buy one(in very good condition) then why buy a new engine if the engine is already good? Not unless you want an engine upgrade.

What did you buy? Those prices seem high.
I bought a 93 sedan LX with 202,000 miles for $900
I could have bought a 94 with 129,000 miles for $1500 and there were a few more around in the $1000-1200 price range.
I can get a 2002 for $4K
