Welding Muffler
On my previous civic I bought a universal magnaflow muffler to have welded on.The muffler was polished stainless steel.
The weld of the hangars onto the muffler canister was pretty messy. I was just wondering if this is because it is stainless steel which makes it more difficult to weld, or they just did a crappy job.

RE: Welding Muffler
could be alittle bit of both but stainless steel will weld best if you TIG weld it and im almost positive that the prolly mig weld it...which makes it a little harder to weld cuz you have to weld at such low temps so you dont burn through

RE: Welding Muffler
most likely just crapy job... most muffler shops dont give a dam if it looks good as long as it holds.... they just slap up some steel rods bent up for the hanger and then just hold the muffler up and blast the 2 together...... which makes it really easy for the two pieces to walk around when welding which makes the weld look horible.... either way no way to make it look good. only way to really make it look good is either tape off that area and try to get some chrome spray paint and just paint the welded ugly areas..... or just paint the whole muffler black
