depends on how much money you actually have and what kind of modifications you are willing to do

well its gunna be my first car. i've been looking at 2000 civics, they look pretty nice.. figured i'd spend around 5k or so on that.

i just dont know what the best way to get some horses out of it would be..

trying to get alot of bang for a decent amount of buck.

im willing to do pretty much any mod, provided there is material out there on how to do it properly.

if you can find a 2000 si, then go ahead and get it, but from what i've experienced, they're pretty rare and because of this, some people try to up the price to around 8000 or so.

in other words, if you can find a deal, jump on it. if not, you can always try to buy a shell of any civic like the 96-00 exfor under 500 or soif you like the coupe.then you can buy the si motor for about 2500 or even the type r engines for about 4000 dollars. but this all depends on if you don't mind doing an engine swap, but i guarantee you that you will have a faster car with the b16b type r or b18c type r instead of the b16a si motor.

when buying a car, it's all about how patient you are to find a good deal on either an si or an empty shell.

Took me like a month and a half of searching online, and on car ads to find my 99 si, but it was worth it.

You should be able to find a decent 2000 Si for 5k. Just depends on where you look and how long you wait. If you try a dealer, they're going to be asking 8-9k depending on it's condition, history and title report.
