Continuously variable transmission, or CVT!
It is offered in the CIVIC HX model. It gives good gas mileage, but i was wondering if someone on this board has personal experience of driving a CVT. How is the reliability of CVT and any thing i should be aware of??? Ne Disadvantages over the regular automatic transmission ???
please advise ! <IMG src=smileys/smiley5.gif border="0"></P>

If im not mistaken i think the CVT is the model where when ur stopped the motor shuts off not wasting any gas, like at lights or at a stop sign, now this same idea is used in a golf cart and as you kno they are not that up to speed unless u get some crazy *** HIGH-TECH one. When your talking about drag tmies and other little scirmishes you will lose out on it, though the car, especially right now, is economically correct with great gas milage, it is not going to have the same HP and or Torque, the engine has to toally cut back on and then start going which can put alot of strain into the motor which will then defeat the whole purpose of the HX. Not only that since the engine is getting sent different ratios to the exhaust, intake and pistons as all times it would be set at one thing so this alone should be an indicator that it would not be best for that type of use. so if your going to race or drag or what not i would not advise it and would say to stick to the reg civic DX,LX,EX, or the SI.
