Why not to use cheap ebay parts
So a couple days ago me and a buddy were driving in my car and we come up to a stop sign.(dont worry it was a dead road that is almost always empty) So I decided to have a little fun ( ya i know its only a sohc, for now :P) and get on it like a 0-60 kinda thing.start out in first and launched got the tires spinning and everything is fine, but then soon as i hit second, take a guess what happened. snaped my short throw right at the ball. Since it snapped so low i couldnt change anygears. Anyways so were stuck in neutral just coastin till we come to a stop.Put on the hazards on the side of the road, Then i thought, wait a minute i luckily have my stock shifter in my trunk beacause i only had the short throw maybe 2 months at max. Yup you guessed it I changed my shifter on the side of the road.ya it sucked.least it was finished before it started raining / snow / sleet. Atleast it was on a dead road and i had my stock shifter and some tools and a handy flashlight :P (ya it was at night) Anyways my conclusion is if you EVER think about getting one of those cheap short throw shifter on ebay that are like what $15-20 I dont even know how much, some one gave me a brand new one they had lying around.Dont do it.you could end up like me having to change it on the side of the road or needing a tow.maybe i should look into AAA lol. ill put up a pic tonight or tomarrow when i get a camera

yea same thing happened to me about a month ago. Luckily mine snapped at the handle so i could still drive. Still tho, the piece of crap did end up lasting almost 2 years.

I haven't had trouble with mine, and i REALLY throw that thing hard when I shift sometimes (which is not good for tranny but i hate my car anyway)
I actually bought a new one anyway because the paint is chipping on the current one, what material was yours? steel or aluminum

DANG that would suck BUT i would just get under the car and shift it in 2nd... from under the car and turn on flashers and slowly drive home....[8D]
it would work..... slow but alot easier if you dont have the stock shifter in your trunk and enough tools to change it.
