I've autocrossed my uncles Miata, it's a LOT of fun. When I get a real job and and a car i trust to auto-x, I'll definitely be signing up.

If I knew about anything somewhat local I would, but I haven't heard of anything near me.

Do a web search I also believe scca.com has a list of all the upcoming events http://www.scca.com/events.aspx?hub=3 Just figure out what division your state is in and that will narrow it down.

what do you mean you don't want to blow your bearings?

does the d16y8 have a problem with the main bearings when autocrossed?

Thats my birthday lol. My next ones the 27th. Just remember no ones expecting you to go out and win your first showing. I DNF'd my first run and I've even seen ppl DNF their whole first event. Just walk the course as much as you can and if they have a novice walk through do it
