i had a friend who got caught street racing. don't know what happened with that though. but yea, street racing is stupid. that whole nick hogan thing is a perfect example of what can happen. though he's a horrible driver and his car was way too fast for him...
Actually he drifts professionally, so he's pretty good at driving sideways. More to the point, in Ohio racing is a 6 point offense so it's pretty serious.
i heard that he failed his drifting license thingy test. sorry to get off topic.

In the state of Illinois...
A drag racing conviction gets your license REVOKED
A wreckless driving conviction gets your license REVOKED
A speeding ticket for 35MPH or more over the limit (ie 100MPH in a 65 or 90MPH in a 55, etc.) gets you also charged with wreckless driving and will get your license REVOKED

Getting revoked is different then a suspension. With a suspension you loose your license for x # ofmonths, and then you pay a re-instatement feeand get your license back after the suspension ends. When you are revoked, you have lost your license "forever" and once a year you can apply for re-instatement (called an informal hearing if done at the DMV or a formal hearing at the state capital (which you bring your lawyer with for) and the state will "think about" re-instatement which usually is denied the first time. I was revoked for drag racing and I was without a license forFOUR years. And when I did get it back, I had to have an SR22 (high risk insurance coverage) for 36months costing me $225/mo for liability only.

I have a friend fromthe Chicagoland Prelude Club whowas KILLED in a FIERYcrash on Wednesday afternoon (7-16-2008) when he was "allegedly"street racing in a NW Chicago suburb - hejust turned20 years oldin May.
