Need a new hood
i bought a 98 civic it had racing pins on the hood. i dont race in it so i feel like a complete douche riding ariound in it. decided i need a new hood.
So trying to figure out how to go about this and how you all would go about replacing it. I have a few options:
1- getting it replaced at an auto body shop. they would charge for the part and the installation and probably tax the hell out of me. i dont know much about cars and definitely not about body work so i woudnt know if they were overcharging , etc
2- ordering it off line and attempting to do it myself or find someone to do it for cheap
problems: i have been reading online (searched around before making my own post) and it looks like a lot of people have problems with their hood LATCHES> if i replace it or buy a new hood would i be also buying the latch parts too. would this be a separate installation? Confused as to what to do. Help if anyone has advice

you should be able to do this yourself, only a few bolts. The latch might be a little harder to get too but not by much. I would get a hood from a junk yard if that is an option. having to replace the latch depends on if yours is still there.

In addition to what TG said above, you might want to throw an offer on Craigslist to the effect of, "Trade hoods - your stock one (same color) for my modified one with hood pins." I'm sure someone will go nuts over a free hood that they don't have to modify (with fancy new pins), and will even help you swap the two hoods. The best part? It's FREE.
