Default 06 Civic runs rough while driving

HI All,
great forum! just joined and already learned a lot about my car, but i have googled this problem and have yet to find anything to fix it. i have a used 06 Civic 2Dr with 80k miles. run good except when driving i will feel it "sputter" a bit when trying to maintain a certain speed, like 40mph. (going up a hill with the added resistance will make it feel even worse) If she is tacking btwn 1500 and 2000 rpm i will see the rpm drop to about 1200, and feel the engine sputter or miss for a second, then it will go back to where it was.. It will do this every few seconds. Does not do it when accelerating, when i press on the gas it will accelerate smoothly. Also, the rpms will be rock solid at a light or in park. It will do it whether the engine is hot or cold, doesn't matter. Also, it will not do it when i am sitting in park and rev it to 1500 rpms, it runs smooth,
The only thing i have tried so far is to change to high end spark plugs to NGK Laser Iridium ( about $12 ea) and change the air filter. This did not make a difference. Other than this the car runs great and is very reliable.
Any thoughts on what this might be?
Thanks in advance.!!

could be torque converter shudder, but not common on that gen civic.
neithe ris this but give it a shot, could be a bad egr valve, disconnect it and redrive the car, if it goes away, replace the egr valve. let us know how you make out.
