1997 Honda Civic EX Auto Transmission Issue
Hi Everyone,
Maybe someone can shed some light onto what to expect when I take my car into the dealer in the not-so-distant future. I have an automatic transmission that has been acting up lately. When shifting from reverse into drive and applying throttle, I feel a loud thump/lurch forward from the car before the Drive gear engages. I have also noticed that sometimes when accelerating from a stop sign or stop light, the engine/tranny seems to vibrate and revv to about 3k-4k RPM before the gear actually engages. Furthermore, today my check engine light came on, and my car seems to struggle to engage first gear... it revvs around the 4000rpm range before going into second gear. I am thinking it has something to do with tightening the belts, since it seems to be only first gear that is "slipping" so to speak, but I am not too sure. Any ideas anyone? I would certainly appreciate any feedback.
Cheers,
Chris

sounds like a slipping tranny. wearing off of the friction material due to overuse or overheating (or both) are you or anyone who may have owned/driven the vehicle in the past a stoplight/sign wheel chirper? i used to do it all the time in my 98 sierra and now my tranny is messed up. it's hurtful to almost all parts on your vehicles drivetrain. but it is damn fun though[sm=badbadbad.gif]
