1998 Civic EX A/C compressor seized up?
I have a 98 Civic EX and recently the A/C compressor seized up. I have been looking on here and have seen several people ask, but the thread always stops there with no answer, so I'll try to ask again.
Can I just remove the A/C compressor belt and run without A/C until I can find a good used compressor to replace it with? I would really appreciate the help if anybody has an answer.

Yes you can. The air conditioner belt isn't necessary for anything else but the air conditioner. So just remove it.
If the inner part of the compressor still turns OK you may just need a new pulley bearing rather than the whole compressor.

Thanks I'll check it out once I get the belt off.

Here is an excellent resource that should have step-by-step guides. Go to hondatech.info: Honda service manuals and look in the Civic manual section. You'll find the factory service manual for your Civic there. It's a PDF file.
