1998 Civic rough idle

Default 1998 Civic rough idle

Its a 1998 swapped with a D16Z6 idles rough even after warming up below 700 rpm and jumps up and down i am new to hondas but mechnically enclined to repair i just want to run right

you can start with basic maintance if you are not sure it has been done.

spark plugs and spark plug wires. clean IACV. maye some fuel system cleaner. reset ECU. from there it might be easier to figure out if you have a serious problem or not.

Adjust the valves. Follow the procedure exactly.

As the engine heats up, valve clearance decreases, which can cause loss of compression if a valve is set too tight to close completely.

You can check if there is a problem isolated to one cylinder by disconnecting the fuel injectors one at a time with the engine idling. Do not disconnect spark plug wires with the engine running! That is prone to blow out the coil.

ok i will get the basic items this weekend and do that i dont know if it matters or not but the v tec seloniod is not connected any recommend plugs and wires
