89 Civic Si Turn signal not working
Hey Group - great forum! I have a very worn out 89 Civic Si (370,000 Km/222,000 mi, original clutch, still runs great!) that has never had electrical problems...until now: the right hand turn signals do not light (including dash light). Flasher clicks, but no right signal...left signal works, 4 ways work - all bulbs OK...and new flasher relay made no difference. From what I can tell on wiring diagram (OK its the one in Haynes for up to '87 - I imagine not much difference on '89), most wiring is shared with 4 ways, and they work in and out....any ideas? This is driving me CRAZY
Thanks for any help!

fuses are good...just doesn't make any sense. I thought might be switch itself, but the flasher works when lever moved...just no lights work. And since 4 ways work, I knowwires to lights and the bulbs are all OK...weird.

have you checked that everything inside the signal light switch inside the steering wheel column is tight? It could be that one way is lose and is not engaging... It's worth a try. lol

OR, check to make sure your hazard switch is connected and properly functioning. The hazard switch is on the same wiring line and if it doesn't work, your blinkers won't work. Also, check to wiring to and from the switch.

RE: 89 Civic Si Turn signal not working
This is what confuses me on all this...the hazards work fine (I call them "4 ways"...I am Canadian, eh!). My only guess is itts in the turn signal switch itself, but the flasher does "click" when the lever is moved for right signal, so the circuit through the switch is closed, but no lights come on. I am wondering if the new flasher I puit in is faulty...but this would seem too much of a coincedence that it would act the same as the original Honda one it replaced...I am stumped.

Damn, sounds like you're going to have to follow wires with a wire probe. So... if the 4-ways (hazards) work properly and it's only right signal when "activated" that doesn't work, I can only conclude that it's the turn signal lever that is at fault. I would start by probing the right turn signal wires at the signal lever. I'd be easiest to replace the signal lever instead of fixing it, normally.
