93 Civic Drivers door just won't lock... (won't push down)
hey guys,
i'm purchasing a 93 civic ex with power locks... and the drivers side door just won't lock... i can push down hard manually on the tab that sticks up and it won't even push down, or it will, but only half azzed and it won't lock anyway...
any ideas?
the rest of the power locks work fine on the car...

i had the same problem with my passenger door on a 98 ex. it ended up being the selinode luckly i work for a body shop. and ther was a 95 ex out back and i took it off from that. it wasn't been a problem since. there is no use trying to fix the origanal it is just a bunch of plastic gears. your going to have to take the latch and everything out of the door to replace it. when you get inside there will be some plastic clips around the rodes for the latch. chances are a couple of those might be broke as well. i would go to a junk yard so you can gets extra clips with the selinode. good luck it takes about 2 hours with all the right stuff.

The older honda civics have a "dummy lock" system where to lock the driver side door manually you have to:
1. Pull the inside lever open as you lock the door.
2. Pull the outside lever open as you lock the door.
OR
3. Close the door, insert your key and lock it. (I did this for a long time before I talked to a Honda Tech)[:'(]
Beside number 3, can anyone figure out how this helps a person not lock their keys in the car? Because that is what the "dummy lock" systems were supposed to prevent. Even old toyotas and nissans have this feature in one form or another.
