97 civic exhaust manifold cracked
Hello guys, I have 97 civic lx(Canadian model) with 185000 kms.I just found that my exhaust manifold is cracked and i am getting bad gas mileage.I have heard that its a common problem with civics.I need your suggestion with 2 things:
1. If i install aftermarket steel header and install vtec catalytic converter (from vtec engine under the body style)and extend the secondry o2 sensor wiring, will it run OK in terms of engine noise and gas mileage?
2. Is there any way i can install vtec exhaust manifold (including cat)from civic si (from junk yard) and do that way?
My main concern is to remove the cracking problem, gas mileage and less engine noise. If you guys have any other better suggestion?? Thanks in advance.....

Read/look through all stickies prior to posting. It seems as if you have an understanding as to where you would like to go with the swap.
Header, Intake, & Exhaust - HondaCivicForum.com
The first sticky in that section tells you what you need to know.

Canadian SI = USDM EX.
You shouldn't hear any changes in noise unless you run an aftermarket cat converter. If anything, it will help performance slightly since the "vtec" cat set-up allows the motor to breathe easier.
