Default 97 EX leaking oil driver's side

Hi there,

I bought my civic a few months back and I have to say I love the car. It's needed a few things, but it has never failed me!

Anyway, today I discovered an oil leak on the bottom of the engine, driver's side. It appears to be leaking where the oil pan meets with some shaft (I don't know a ton about cars, just enough to get by I guess...) and it leaves little drips wherever I go. If I'm not mistaken, that would be the crankshaft?

Anyway, a photo... Name: photo.jpg

I have a friend who would help me with the job. I just have to know what seals to pick up.

Thanks

If it is the front seal, you might as well do the timing belt job and change out the rest of the items associated with t/b job.

Yes it looks like the front crank seal is leaking. Would need to remove a few parts to see clearly, at that point you're ready to change the timing belt. It's always a good idea to replace the timing belt after buying a used Civic since you can't know how old the one on it is.

That's what I thought. Timing belt, crankshaft seal, water pump. Anything else?

More of an opinion question: The car just turned 200K. Would it be worth it? If not, I'll look for something else. I would really like to stick to Honda... I love the way the car drives!
