I've read one or two threads that were like this, but they all dealt with auto windows--so I want to make sure that I have the same problem before taking the door apart and making work for myself.

My window (manual) has a minor problem rolling down but going back up, i might get 1 turn before it feels like it's stripped and the window crank feels that it's just grinding around something. The only way to get it back up is to pull it up then crank a bit (repeat).

Any ideas? All the threads and DIY I've read here are about the regulator. Is that what this is or is it something else... some cable or other?

under no circumstances should you keep cranking it when it starts to grind, my friend did that to mine when i let him borrow my car and now the regulator is bent beyond repair
