When leaving work today I noticed that my battery dead, upon further inspection i realized that my brake lights were staying on while the car was off? any suggestions on how to fix this? thanks

Sounds like an issue with the brake lever somehow. There should be a switch down there that activates the brake lights, somehow its getting stuck, or maybe the pedal itself is sticking a little, and not extending fully to depress the switch that triggers the brake lights.

Might try looking around in that area, and see what you find. I will see if I can't find something else somewhere to help.

 

Yup, check the switch at the pedal. Might just have some crap stuck in it. Fiddle with it, maybe some compressed air or something. If still faulty, replace it.

 

i think that the brake pedal button broke, I found small back pieces on my floor mat that look like they would fit in a hole at the top of the pedal pushing in a button on what looked like a relay, is this plastic part hard to find or install, could this be the problem?

 

Should cost a couple of bucks at a dealer...

 

yup, dat's the problem. list price of $17.62, stop switch assembly.

 

Actually my data show OEM switch at $52.57 list. But i think it's just the pad on the pedal what needs to be replaced, which is $1.92

Unfortunatley I too am now expirencing this problem and the Plastic part that pushes in the stop switch relay is broken, do you have the name for this part, because I cant find it.
