Car went from drive to neutral when braking hard
Hello all,
I have a 2013 Honda Civic LX automatic. This morning, I braked very hard while turning (very stupid of me!). As a result, my car went from "D" to "N" (neutral).
I panicked for a few seconds because I was accelerating and I could tell my engine was revving but I wasn't moving, noticed that it was neutral, and put it back into drive. I was able to drive just fine after that. I'm worried about why this happened and what the implications are as far as possible damage caused to my car.
It is a brand new car and this has not happened before!
I appreciate any advice or comments.
Many thanks

You didn't hurt anything. It's possible that you didn't have the shifter completely in Drive and the force popped it out, or you have have bumped it and didn't realize it. Either way you have a rev limiter to prevent damage.
