Default crackling clunk sound

Hi I'm new here so forgive my ignorance etc. I have a 2005 Civic automatic non abs. When the car is not moving if I put it in reverse it makes 3 popping sounds coming from the front end. It is more noticeable if I step on the brakes and give it gas. It also does this going from park to drive but is more noticeable going from park to reverse. My wrench just replaced the right front axle which did not fix it.

Help!

Try to localize the noise. Open the hood and listen outside while someone holds down the brake and shifts the gears for you. Stay to the side of the car, not in front, so you won't be run over if the car moves by accident. Bad motor mounts are a common reason for this.
