I don't think D15 engines come in 7th generation (2001-2005) Civics. D15s are older, like 84-95 for the most part. The USDM 7th gen came with either D17 or K20 engines.

In general, D17 and D15/D16 are not interchangeable.

Wow, I've never heard of that engine. Can you take a couple of pictures and show us?

The D17 does not have much reputation for high performance. I think a D16Y8 (which has VTEC, it was stock in 1996 to 2000 US "EX" models) would be a better choice. If you have a distributor ignition system, I think the D16Y8 would be a very direct bolt-in. A much larger range of aftermarket performance parts are made for it than the D17's.

Already referenced the site. It seems your particular D15 is different from the D15 I'm familiar here in the US.

If you can find a suitable D17 engine, they're probably a direct swap.

If you want serious power, search up how to swap a K20... it is pretty much bolt on.
D17 sucks. Really, reallly, reallllly bad. There isn't a lot of aftermarket stuff for it, and in a decently heavy car (in comparison to older civics), you won't really feel the pull of the motor.

k20 is one of the best VTEC engines ever ... but if i want to swap K20 i must do some modification in my car ... and in my country there some Laws ... you can increase just 300cc on the original engine capacity ... so for this i am looking to D17... and K20 very expensive .

Oh I see.
In that case, D17 is your best bet.
Make sure you get the A2 for a little more horsepower.
I was going to say you could try a D16, but it is an engine older than your car, so they wouldn't allow it.
