Default Difficult inner tie rod removal

So this is my first time working on a Honda and I am replacing the tie rods. The outers came off with no problems. However, the inner tie rod removal tool I am renting from O'Reily's will not fit over the end of the inner tie rod. The inner tie rod is just a bit too long to fit inside the cup of the removal tool to wrench the inner tie rod off. The only solution I can think of to get it off is by grinding the inner tie rod down to where it can fit inside the removal tool. Any other solutions are welcomed! Thanks in advance

I was thinking that maybe I could turn the wheels to one side to extend the tie rod out and try to squeeze a crescent wrench in there. I can't look at it now since I'm at work.
