And then what ? Has it not started since you last put gas in it and it 'died out' ? After it dies out, does it re-start OK , or do you have to wait awhile ?

If you put the car in gear and try to drive, does it go OK? In other words, is it just that it won't stay idling, or is there a problem with running at any speed?

Start by cleaning the IACV. Also check the back-up fuse since if it is blown, the ECU will have to recalibrate the idle every time you start.
