The battery went flat (battery is ok but I think charging system or drain current may be too high). Brake does not depress and I cannot shift gear from P (to R or N). I guess the gear shifts only when brake is depressed. Since the brake pump does not work, the gear does not shift. Any quick fix (I guess I can jump start but I want to avoid this).

Automatics cannot be roll-started like you can do with a manual by popping the clutch. Even at that, that will not work when the battery is totally flat since you need power for the fuel pump and spark plugs.

To start the engine you must have electricity: either jump start or hook up a battery charger or take the battery out and charge it then put it back in.

If you want to put the car in neutral to push or tow it a short distance, there is a slot in the console near the shift lever that will unlock the shifter when you push a key (any key will work) into it.
