Default HELP ASAP Coolant Temperature Sensor

sorry that i couldnt search for this but im on my cellphone but my radiator fan stop working so i test it by running it straight to the battery and it work. i check the fuses and there all good. and i herd that if i can find the Coolant Temperature Sensor and unplug it i can test to see if its a relay or if the Coolant Temperature Sensor is bad. bu i have no idea where its at. so can someone please give me a descriptive idea where its at. im an idiot so i really mena descriptive since its currently night time and cant see

It's the sensor in the thermostat housing.

I guess im goin to have to hard wire the fan for now. how hard is it to change the thermostat? and where is it even located ?

lol yeah thepicture helps a lot i just have to wait until tomorrow morning when the sun is up its too dark now

Unplug the sensor and use a little piece of wire to jumper the two pins in the plug (on the car end). The fan should now start immediately when you turn the key on. If it doesn't, check the relay and fuses. If it does, you need a new sensor (called the coolant temperature SWITCH, not sensor).

Follow the lower radiator hose from the radiator to the back of the block, it should lead to the thermostat housing which the temp switch is screwed into


This is where it's at on my y7, i think you have a y8, so it should be very similar.

ok i found it but whenever i jump it i justhere a noise form the fuse box under the hood so i just left it

Probably the relay is bad, if you're sure the fuse is good (it's one of the ones in the underhood fuse box) and the motor is good, you tested it. The relay is in the fuse box it's what you heard clicking. A bad relay can still click but not make contact.
