yea i figured thats what was happening..i have a replacement but its not going in till i either replace the thermostat housing or drill and tap the existing one..could a bad O2 sensor cause the problem..heres my real question..can a sensor be bad and not throw a code?

anything can happen...

If you're getting air in the coolant system, it will make for a jerky ride.

apparently o2 sensors can go bad and not throw a code, too. heh. i didn't think that was possible. post #5 gives a tip in the right direction i think...

i replaced my map sensor..just because..didnt make a change..ill try and get a reading off the front o2 sensor and let u know what happens..i know it doesnt produce a ton of voltage(mV-1v?) so what exactly should i look for?

It's only a dumb question if you don't ask it... so..

Did you swap out the ignition control module? It's another component in the distributor. I've seen some replacement distributors that came with them and some that didn't. My ICM went out at 130K miles. My sister's ICM went out at 312K miles. It's a toss up on how long they last.

not the ICM itself..but i figure i cant get two distributors with the exact same problem and not have a change at all

It's a very easy thing to replace, but it's like $100ish at Autozone. You can remove yours and take it to autozone/advance/etc and they will test it for you. Very easy to remove, especially since you've already disassembled the thing before.

its worth a shot..im also gonna be buying an ecu in the future...if the ICM passes and when i replace the IM gasket i still dont have a change..thats where im going next
