high pitched squealing noise! :/
My car started making an extremely loud high pitched squealing noise about 4 months ago. It seemed to happen every time I turned the ac on, but went away when I revd the engine up to about 5-6k rpm or turned the ac back off. Or if I left the ac on, it would go away after a minute and never come back. So I changed the ac belt and the problem went away, for about a week...
Ever since then it started doing the same thing every time. For some reason, about a week ago, the car will make that noise every 10 seconds and it will constantly squeal for about 10 seconds. The squealing doesn't stop until I turn off the car. Please help :/

If it is a squealing sound, the belt needs to be re-tensioned.
If it is a grinding type noise, the bearing on either the A/C pump, or the other pulley associated with it is going bad. I think it is called the tensioner pulley, but I am not 100% sure as I yank A/C out of my Civics so my experience with that system is not the best.

So I looked at the belt that connects to my ac, its also connected to the alternator. What's the solution to get around this? I know I probably need a shorter belt, but is there one specifically designed for this purpose?
I have a d17A1 if that helps any. 02 civic dx
