165,000 about on my 96 d16y7. i change the oil like every 2500-2800 miles and have had no major engine work done. doesn't leak any oil but burns a little bit. only like 1/4 of a quart every two weeks.

255 000 miles on my 1990 EF, with the d15b2. It burns a very small amount of oil. I am going to do a compression test just for curiousity sake soon. But these little d's are beast engines, just keep on going and going!

With a D15B7 or really pretty much any Honda engine, as long as you perform routine maintenance and don't push it too hard (redlining it a lot, etc.), you can realistically expect 300,000 miles out of that engine or even more.

As everyone has said already, it all depends on how you take dare of your own car. My brother 92 lx crapped out on him at 150 cuz he drove it hard and crazy.

My 96 just hit 110 and it is still running great, no problems at all.

I believe that a civic can actually last forever if maintained properly. I saw an article on Yahoo News a while back of a 4th gen civic that went over 999,999 miles without ever having to pull off the head and do any major work. He changed his timing belt like eleven times and the article listed how many oil changes he had but i forgot. the interesting thing is that since the odometer doesn't read 1,000,000 miles it reset by turning back to 000,000. Honda offered to buy the car off him as a show car kind of thing and give him a brand new civic but he refused, lol.

so anyways, civics can last forever!!!

My engine went 180,000 miles before anything went bad. Then the piston rings and head gasket went out almost simultaneously. But, I can only blame myself as I pushed the car pretty hard right after I brought it Germany(d**n those autobahns).

Generally, the more a car swaps hands the fewer miles it will last. My brother had his ’92 DX up to 380,000 miles before he totaled it. He was the original owner.

Well i have a familly member who was a head mechanic and top mechaninc in my region for 11 years. Then he moved on. But he has been maintaining the car verry well. Hasent had any major repairs on the vehicul. Still original engine and automatic transmision. Its curently has 440000 KM on it. Its hard to beleive but it dose. Dosent burn oil and there is no rust on the body. Its a 1998 Honda civic 4 door sedan baby blue in color. Other than people who cant drive and keep hitting his car when its parked it looks good
