I have tried (only for a minute or two) to remove the center console from my 01 Civic LX. I removed front two clips and the two rear screws but could not figure out what is holding it down. I know the transmission shift handle will need to be removed but I cant get that far. Thanks for the help, Jeff

 

try sliding it back instead of just pulling straight up...if its like my 91 then it has grooves near the back that go under tabs of metal...probably not the same but worth a try....are you sure the shift handle will need to be removed i think it may just be a big square and fit right over it...good luck

 

Thanks, I did not think of sliding it back. I have not been able to find any service manuals in town for the 01. I will give it a shot tomorrow. I need to get the console out of my way so I can get up to the stereo. I got my Civic used and need the serial number off of the radio so I can get the crying radio anti-theft code from Honda. Honda will get the serial number for $40....I don’t think so...

 

wow $40 just to take a couple screws and read a number thats crazy... about the manuals the dealer should have it but may cost you a good amount of money... you havent found any haynes repair manuals at pepboys or autozone? my friend had the same problem with a 00 celica the hayns at the stores only went up to a 99

 

Yeap, I have the same problem. The highest year I could find was 2000.
