is there a way that you can unlock the steering wheel without the key being turned or watever?

as some of you may already kno, my key will not turn at all in my ignition.
i have tried everything from jiggling the steering wheel and turning the key to putting graphite powder (it actually made the key slide in faster, and i can tell it wants to turn, but the damn steering wheel is locked HARD)

i currently think its my steering wheel lock that is not making the key turned.

is there a way i can unlock the steering lock?
and where is it located in my 04civiclx. thanks

what are some other problems that i can take consider?

go to the dealership with your title and they can make you a brand new key to match your ignition!

 

I assume you've already tried turning the wheel from side to side while trying to turn the key. If the lock is jammed up you will have to drill the screws out and take it off of the column. If it's like the older models the part with the key cylinder is clamped onto the column, and when it is locked there is a dog that comes out and locks the shaft.

like said have you tried to TURN THE STEERING WHEEL and then moving the key forwards?

if the steering wheel has pressure on it it will not allow the key to turn forwards..... simply grab the steering wheel and turn it either way that it will go just alittle bit and they key should go right forwards no problem.
its like this on every vehicle with a steering lock
