Oil Leak - Crankshaft Seal?
Hey guys
My 01 Civic LX had a very very minor oil leak. Meaning it only leaked a few drops a month.
Took the car to a reputable tire shop , which i wont mention the name, to have new tires put on. They called me and said my car dumped oil everywhere.
I went down and took a look and they had the car on a lift. It appeared to have a crack in the oil pan which the previous owner mustve sealed.
I go today to do a temporary fix with jb weld. I got all the old crap off, which looked like silicone but felt like dry mud. After i get it clean, there is no crack. No damage at all.
Then i notice the oil seems to be coming from the crankshaft pulley seal. It looks to me that the seal, SOMEHOW, has come out.
And heres the seal
Is there a way to "pop" it back in place without removing the crankshaft pulley?
The seal had no issues until they put it on their lift. So im assuming the seal is fine. Id hate to say it, but i feel they did it on purpose. The oil poured out ON their lift, not before then though. And is it "crankshaft seal" the correct term? Or is it the timing cover seal? Or is it simply a boot and the seal is inside it? Im getting conflicting ideas on google
Any ideas would be great
Thanks
