I have an 07 Civic with 28,000 miles, which is still covered under warranty. I have had it at the dealer twice already for the Malfunction Indicator Lamp coming on. They have now replaced the Purge Control Solenoid Valve twice, this last time I was there on a Saturday, they told me that the problem was not actually fixed and that I would have to bring it back during the week when they could spend more time and go into more detail to figure out the problem. They are now telling me that a hose that goes from the EVAP System to the my fuel tank has holes that appear to be caused by some kind of rodent, is this even a possibility? I have heard of animals chewing electrical, but they are making it sound as though this is right above my fuel tank. Of course they are saying this is not covered under warranty and will cost me 492.00. Need some help just want to have some idea if this is even possible.

 

Ask them to show you the "rodent-damaged" hose on your car to see whether you agree/disagree with their conclusion.

 

I too have a 07 Civic. throwing a p0497 code. I need to know the exact location of the purge valve
