Default Question About Energy Shifter Bushings

I currently have a no name eBay short shifter in my car, and about a week after I installed it I read that I should have bought the energy bushings and it would have made a waay bigger difference. Well, I finally dished out and bout a Skunk2 short shifter and the bushings, but before I install I have 1 question:
do the 2 round pieces go where the shifter and linkage meet? Or do I have to take the linkage out and put them where the linkage connects to the tranny?

Thanks in advance, can't wait to put it all in!

the little metal sleeve should go into that ball at the end of the shifter.

I had the same problem with my skunk 2 short shifter. When I called them, the rep said to simply put a clamp on it to get those in, or put it in a vice grip. I did it, and it worked almost immediately. The reps at Skunk2 were extremely helpful.

So i just squeeze in into the shifter and let the other piece pop out?will it matter if I just leave it as is? or will it make a big diff?
