Question Reading the Oil Dipstick Question

Hi, New member with super basic question; 2016 Civic Coupe, 2007 Civic Coupe Si before. Do I read the oil level on the dipstick as where the "black" color oil is or where any oil ("light" color) is as long as it isn't just a random drop? Never had a problem reading other dipsticks - 2016 one is confusing! Thanks in advance.

The black. If you check it repeatedly, the thin light color should go away.

try wiping off the stick then pulling it out really fast, that way it wont smudge so bad on the way out.
