RE: short circuit for taillights license plate lites , front, rear and side markers lites
Solution for 1996 civic hatchback short. All lites bulbs were replaced but it still had a short. The short was found in wiring harness for the 1996 civic hatchback. It lay between the hatchback liftgate and rubber gasket seal for the rear lites. You will have to remove the rear panel of the hatchback liftgate. Remove the right upper trim molding on the hatchback liftgate. Pry back the rubber gasket seal . The red and black wires is use for the rear lites including left and right taillights, and also for the right and left brake lite/taillights. Including the front left and right parking lites and license plates lites. The black wire was also was shortiing out. It is the ground wire for the rear left and right license lite and rear wiper . The black and blue wire also was shorting out too. All three wires shorted out each time you open and closed the hatchback liftgate causing to blow the 7.5 amp fuse each time. Each wires had to be replaced individually. Each wires were solder and shrinking tubing was used. Black electrical tape was apply to the wires to prevent any more shorts in the future. Split loom was use to cover the wire for the hatchback liftgate and right top corner panel of the car to prevent any more short in the future.
