Default Sometimes Issues with starting

It seems that just recently it has gotten worse, the car has a hard time starting or wont start at all. Ive had the distributor and rotor cup checked, the wiring, spark plugs have been replaced, the fuel filter is being changed tomorrow along with the timing belt and the usual oild change. I hoping the filter fixes it cause otherwise it could maybe be the ignition coil or or maybe even the ignition switch.

If it's a 1989 to 1995 model the main relay is a major cause of "it cranks but doesn't start, though only sometimes." Those relays were a lemon part, the internal soldering cracks.

When the relay is bad, the fuel pump does not run while cranking, thus the engine doesn't start. It can often be checked by turning the key on but not all the way to engage the starter. Normally the relay will click, and the fuel pump (inside the gas tank, under the back seat) will run for 2 seconds. During that 2 seconds, the Check Engine light on the dash comes on then goes out. If the light stays on steady and the pump does not run, the relay is likely bad. Naturally you have to do this test at a time when the car is not willing to start.

The main relay can almost always be repaired rather than replaced. https://www.hondacivicforum.com/foru...22/#post759855
