Squealing serpentine belt

Squealing serpentine belt
Our 2003 Civic still runs, but occasionally will make a shrieking noise that I would assume is coming from the serpentine belt. This will go on for a minute or so usually when the engine is cold and then the noise will stop.
Mileage is around 190,000km.
Any idea of what component might be causing this noise or any other suggestions from others who might have heard something similar?

you need to tighten the belt i suggests you buy a manual if you plan on doing it yourself or pay someone to do it. either way it needs to be tightened. also depending on the mileage of the car it mite actually need to be replaced entirely.

I did not research your car, but it was my understanding that serpentine belts had auto tensioners. If it does, it could simply be that it is worn and needs to be replaced. If it does not have an auto tensioner then I believe the above advice should take care of the problem. Replace the belt and tighten to specs.
