Default Swapping out a VTEC Engine with a Non VTEC Engine

I have a 2002 Civic with a ruined D17A2 VTEC engine. I have found a very low mileage D17A1 Non VTEC engine. I understand that I will have to use the intake and coolant passage housing from the ruined engine due to the EGR valve. Question is, since the ECU was originally designed to run a VTEC engine, will I run into ECU problems trying to run the Non VTEC engine.

No.you will throw 2 codes tho one for vtec selinoid and the other for oil pressure switch whoch is part of the vtec wiring.but you wont run into any performance problems

When the CEL is on for any reason, the ECU goes into limp mode, which will impose a rev limiter and also likely hurt your gas mileage and emissions. So you really should replace ECU with a non-VTEC one.

Thanks All........I believe it will be less of a headache to look for a VTEC replacement.
