Default WD-40 Safe for Ignition Switch?

Recently, my ignition has made it hard to turn the key from the Accessory postion to lock (where you have to push it in slightly). Would WD-40 be safe to spray a little into the key slot, and put some on the key itself? If not, what do you recomment I do?

PS, I know in the manual it says it's possible that if your wheels are turned one direction or the other, it can make it hard to turn the key, but this issue happens in all wheel positions.

i'm not sure, i've never heard of that problem, but i guess you could slide a little grease on your key and try to wiggle it around in the slot. a little wd40 shouldn't hurt it, just not too much or you'll probably short something out if it leaks out.

Lol that's what I was thinking, I'm just going to spray it on my key and give it a try. Thanks for the quick reply!

I think just putting it on the key won't do much as it needs to go deeper into the mechanism than that. Most mechanical things survive being doused with WD-40 but you may be the one to find an exception.
