Default what clutch to use?

Hello everyone brand new member. I'm a pretty adept mechanic and iv taken on a job for a friend looking at his 1990 hf.

The set up is a D16y7 on the 4 speed L3

I just need to know if I should use the Y7 clutch or the D15 1990 clutch.

iv gotten mixed info on clutch diameter but several scources show them both being 20 tooth splines, 210mm, 7/8ths inch diameter.

also are the pressure plates/flywheels different?

Thank you for any help!

been researching more, looks like the clutches are the same diameter and spline and the reason all the auto stores and websites say they arn't compatible is the early 90s were cable clutches vs hydro later on.

The throwout bearing is definitely different for cable vs. hydro. I don't know if the clutch cover is. The same clutch plate fits practically any D-series.
